See The Pantheon, Italy

See The Pantheon, Italy.........
The Roman Pantheon slips dreamily into the landscape. Of all the great buildings constructed during the crest of the Roman Empire, only this one still stands. Seemingly impervious to time or destruction, the walls and dome of the Roman Pantheon rise from the Piazza della Rotonda, and bath the square in a warm, Protecting light. A precarious moment in the history of the Pantheon was the fall of the Roman Empire. But unlike many institutions at the time, the Roman Pantheon managed to escape destruction as Barbarians flooded the city. Historians disagree as to why the conquerors elected to preserve this building while destroying so many others, and thus their motives may forever remain a mystery.

Regardless, it was the pivotal moment in history Pantheon.
The history of the Pantheon dates back to 27 BC, when it was first conceived by Marcus Agrippa as a temple to the Gods (Pantheon meaning, of course, "all the gods"). Over 150 years later, Emperor Hadrian oversaw its completion, and is CREDITED with turning it into one of the most recognizable architectural works in the world. These Roman gods correspond to each of the seven planets (at the time) and remain in their original spots, despite the church being consecrated as a Christian church by Pope Boniface IV in 609. But the Roman Pantheon seems to exist independent of religious rule - more a tribute to the past than any specific spiritual figures.

The history of the Pantheon was forever changed during the reign of Pope Urban VIII, who melted down every scrap of bronze located upon the ceiling, outraging a great deal of Roman citizens.
The great bronze doors escaped destruction, however, and remain today, a glowing testament to the Pantheon history. The cavernous space rises 142 feet into the water while its base measures the same - a perfect sphere astride a corresponding cylinder with an immense bronze ceiling.

Nice Cinque Terre

Nice Cinque Terre...............
The Cinque Terre is a Rugged mountainous region located on the coast of Italy. The villages are each about two miles apart from one another, with the entire area spanning approximately eight miles. The villages contain a variety of small cafes and restaurants, bed and breakfasts, and hiking trails. One of the most popular things to do in the Cinque Terre is hiking. A network of trails connects the five villages. One of the most frequently Traveled paths is the Via dell 'Amore, or Lover "s Pathway. The hiking trail runs between the southernmost neighboring villages of Manarola and Riomaggiore.

To access the path, take a train to Cinque Terre village and ask either one of the Locals where the entrance to the trail is located.
The smooth and level path provides beautiful views of the Mediterranean Sea as well as the Rugged mountains that characterize coastal Italy. One of the highlights of Exploring the Cinque Terre region is sampling the cuisine of the region. Since the Cinque Terre is located on the Mediterranean Sea, seafood is a main food source in the region.

The village of Monterosso is well known for packing anchovies, while the other villages are known for the production of pesto, a sauce made from pecorino cheese, pine nuts, garlic, basil leaves, and a pinch of salt.
Be sure to step into a local pizzeria or bakery to buy some freshly baked farinata, a savory pancake made from garbanzo bean flour. The only Downfall to Cinque Terre taking a holiday during the summer is the fact that the beaches and hiking trails can be crowded. Fall and spring are ideal times for Cinque Terre travel because there are plenty of sunny days, yet the crowds have died down. It's possible to go on tours of Cinque Terre in the winter, although the climate can be slightly chilly with lows in the 50s. No matter what time of year you decide to visit, taking a train or Cinque Terre hiking along the coast of Italy is an experience you're likely never to forget.

Battle Arena Colosseum

Battle Arena Colosseum...........
The Colosseum hosted spectacular games that included gladiatorial exhibitions, fights between animals, prisoner executions and - strangely enough - naval battles. Untold thousands of humans and animals met their ends within one of the most popular attractions in Rome. The Colosseum's name is derived from a bronze Colossus of Nero that once stood nearby, though it disappeared sometime during the Middle Ages and has largely been forgotten. Construction was begun by Emperor Vespasian and completed by his sons in the late first century.

The arena floor was covered with sand to Soak up the blood shed by those humans and animals Unlucky enough to find themselves in its center. The first level of seating was restricted for Roman Senators and included the emperor's private box. The section above the lower platform was for Roman aristocrats. The third level itself was divided into three sections. The best of these seats was reserved for Wealthy citizens, the upper part for the poor and a third, wooden section was left for lower-class women.

The Roman Colosseum incorporated a number of passageways that opened into a tier of seats so that the entire structure - one of the largest tourist attractions in Rome even then - could fill in 15 minutes, and be evacuated even quicker.
During the Baroque age the marble that originally covered the facade was redistributed by the ruling Roman families who used it as a source of marble for the construction of St.. Peter's Basilica and their private Palazzis, a fate that also befell the equally monstrous Circus Maximus located on the other side of the Palatine Hill.

Celebration Mardi Gras In Alabama

Celebration Mardi Gras In Alabama..............
This has a lot to do with the fact that these two states were once French Possessions. Mardi Gras, or Fat Tuesday as it is known in Bahasa Indonesia, falls on the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday, though the weeks or days leading up to that Tuesday are also usually full of celebrations as well. The Mobile Alabama Mardi Gras festivities start well before Ash Wednesday actually arrives. In fact, the first parade takes place in early January, which is about a month before Ash Wednesday Enters the picture. As such, those wishing to enjoy the Mardi Gras Mobile Alabama experience will have plenty of time to catch some of the Fanfare.

The Mobile Alabama Mardi Gras festivities are the oldest in the United States, so even though New Orleans gets more attention for its celebrations, Mobile holds a special distinction. It was way back in 1703 that Mobile first celebrated Carnival, or Mardi Gras, so for those who say that America lacks history, they might want to reconsider that notion. The parades that take place during the Mardi Gras Mobile Alabama season are engineered by the city's "mystic societies," which is a term that designates those organizations that present the arrangement of parades, balls, and other celebrations. These parades feature a lot of music, colorful costumes, and the familiar tossing of beaded necklaces into the crowd. The beaded necklaces that have become the symbol of Mardi Gras for many are just one form of the "throws" that masked members of the mystic societies toss to parade spectators.

In addition to the marching bands, various local rock bands usually also add life to the overall atmosphere, and interestingly enough, Moon Pies are one of the "throws" that have become traditional when it comes to any Alabama Mardi Gras Parade. Moon Pies were first produced at the Chattanooga Bakery in Chattanooga Tennessee, and for all intents and purposes, other parts of the South have adopted the unique treats as something special. For those who might not known, Pies Moon consist of a marshmallow filling between graham crackers cookies.Planning three Alabama your vacation around the Alabama Mardi Gras is an excellent idea if you are up for plenty of revelry on your next getaway. Of course, even if you do not plan your trip around Mardi Gras in Alabama, the state offers more than enough to warrant a visit. Should you get the opportunity to enjoy Mardi Gras in Alabama, it is definitely something that you will never forget.
